Radiators & power flushing

Cold spots, noisy pipes and radiators that take an age to warm up usually point to sludge in the system. A power flush clears debris from pipes and radiators to improve heating performance, and new radiators can make a real difference to comfort.

Signs your system needs a flush

Over time, rust and debris build up inside a heating system. Look out for:

  • Radiators that are cold at the bottom or in the middle.
  • Boiler noise, or radiators that need bleeding often.
  • Discoloured water when you bleed a radiator.
  • A slow warm-up even with the heating turned up.

What a power flush does

A power flush pushes water and cleaning chemicals through the system at high flow to lift sludge and debris out of the pipes and radiators. Clean water then circulates freely, so the system heats more evenly and efficiently.

It is also good practice before fitting a new boiler, so the new boiler is not connected to a dirty system.

Radiator installation

We install radiators as smart, cost-effective heating solutions: replacing old ones, adding radiators to extensions, or fitting heated towel rails like the brass rail pictured.

Questions

Should I power flush before a new boiler?

It is good practice, so the new boiler runs on a clean system. We will advise during the survey.
